SBB Programs

There are a number of accredited programs throughout the United States that offer education and experience towards becoming a Blood Bank specialist. Completion of a program will give you the necessary immunohematological knowledge to confidently sit for your certification exam SBB(ASCP).

Many programs have a major online component. The majority of the theory/background/etc will be done as distance learning using online modules. The clinical 'on-site' portion can be done at the student's choice within reason. Generally, they can do their clinical portion at their current location if employed in the clinical lab. If not, they may be able to choose a hospital in their area or travel to the program area.
